NARANJO 141 is pleased to present A Return to Roots, a group show of three artists whose use of elemental materials gives form to a striking breadth of personal experiences and truths. This presentation includes work by Lea Mugnaini, Jared Owens and Fabian Ramirez, and marks the two-year anniversary of the gallery’s 2023 inaugural opening with Fabian Ramirez.
Working in charcoal melded with acrylic and oil, Ramirez conjures an elusive meditative realm that thrums with spiritual consciousness; in patinated bronze, Mugnaini hatches a procession of organic forms derived from her immediate environment; and in acrylic and sumi ink on bedsheet, Owens creates palimpsestic records of marginalized voices and lives. Seen together, the three artists’ singular visions careen towards a primordial visual vocabulary. Their mutual commitment to employing the fundamental— both physical and experiential— becomes the through-line in a body of work that draws on a global range of perspectives.
